Our Da Vinci Pre-School class builds upon the foundational skills developed in earlier years, introducing more complex problem-solving tasks, creative arts, and hands-on learning. Using Montessori techniques alongside the Cambridge curriculum, children explore subjects like science, mathematics, and art in a creative, open environment that encourages critical thinking and collaboration.
Da Vinci, as the class namesake, symbolizes innovation and creativity, inspiring our students to think imaginatively and approach problems with curiosity and determination.
Children arrive to a warm welcome from teachers and friends. They settle in, organise belongings, and prepare for the day. A calm start sets the tone for focused learning.
A healthy breakfast shared together builds community and independence. Children serve themselves, practise table manners, and enjoy conversation with peers.
The first academic block of the day dives into literacy. Through phonics, reading comprehension, and early writing tasks, children begin building the building blocks of communication. Activities may include storytelling, writing sentences, or group discussions that bring language to life.
A short pause to reset, move, and prepare for the next lesson.
Maths becomes real through hands-on exploration. Using Montessori materials like golden beads and number rods alongside Cambridge-style practice, children learn counting, patterns, and early problem-solving. Lessons build fluency while keeping learning joyful.
Another chance to stretch, chat, and refocus before the next subject.
Children step into discovery mode. Science lessons are practical and inquiry-driven: planting seeds, testing objects that sink or float, or observing insects. This nurtures curiosity, questioning, and early scientific reasoning.
A balanced meal of protein, grains, and vegetables fuels children for the afternoon. Lunch is also social, where conversation, independence, and responsibility are encouraged.
Children are introduced to Thai through songs, vocabulary games, and cultural stories. It’s playful, interactive, and helps them build an appreciation for language and the community they are part of.
A few minutes to reset and prepare for creative work.
Imagination takes centre stage. With brushes, colours, clay, or craft materials, children explore self-expression and creativity. Projects often link to themes from English or Science, reinforcing cross-curricular connections.
Time to pack away art supplies, stretch, and prepare for a calm literacy session.
Children gather in small groups with teachers for focused reading. This is a quiet, structured time where children practise fluency, comprehension, and discussion skills, building confidence as independent readers.
The class ends the day together with a short reflection. Children share what they enjoyed most, review key learning moments, and prepare calmly for pickup.
Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian polymath of the Renaissance who was an artist, scientist, and inventor. His works, such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, as well as his scientific sketches, have had a lasting impact on art and science. Da Vinci’s diverse talents and visionary ideas exemplify the power of curiosity and innovation.
Naming our Pre-school A class after Leonardo da Vinci symbolizes our dedication to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a passion for discovery in our young learners. The class embodies the principles of exploration and interdisciplinary learning, encouraging children to develop their talents and interests in various fields through hands-on activities and creative projects.
