Communication and language development are supported through interactive and engageing experiences that nurture listening, speaking, and understanding. We create a language rich environment where children are encouraged to express themselves through songs, stories and conversations with peers and educators. Incorporating playful activities like role-play and storytelling, we help children expand thier vocabulary and comprehension skills.
Personal, social, and emotional development is nurtured through activities that help build confidence, empathy and independence. We create a supportive environment where children can express thier emotions and learn how to navigate interactions with peers. Through group activities, guided play, and positive reinforcement, we encourage skills like sharing, cooperation, and self regulation. we empathise the importance of routines and consistant caregiving to provide a sense of security.
Physical development is a key focus, empathising the growth of both fine and gross motor skills through fun, engaging activities. We provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can move freely, explore, and build strength and coordination. Activites like climbing, jumping, and running help develop large muscle groups, while such tasks such as stacking blocks, threading beads, and using playdough enhance fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. Our approach included creating opportunities for both outdoor and indoor play, encouraging active exploration that promotes healthy physical development. We also incorperate music and movement sessions, fostering rhythm and balance while ensuring the children have plenty of opportunities to burn off energy and enjoy active fun.
Creating a language-rich environment that fosters a low for books, stories, and early communication skills. At this age, we focus on developing listening, speaking, and vocabulary skills through playful and engageing activities. We create daily opportunities for children to enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes, which help build sound awareness and familiarise them with the rhythm and patterns of language. Picture books with colourful illustrations and simple narratives are a regular part of our activities, encouraging children to explore and make connections between images and words. Interactive storytelling is a favoutite, where children are encouraged to participate by predicting what happens next, responding to questions, or even enhance thier comprehension and expressive language abilities. Incorperating a variety of expressive mediums, like drawing and scribbling, also allows children to experiment with marks and understand that these can represent objects and ideas. These early writing attempts are important in the journey to conventional writing and reading skills.
Introducing mathematic Activites is all about play and exploration. We introduce mathematics into the classroom through counting activities, Shape recognition, sorting awareness, pattern recognition, size and measurement awareness and spacial awareness. By embedding these elements into playful interactions, children naturally absorb foundational math skills, setting the stage for more complex concepts later.
Introducing the basics of understanding the world and human life is all about engaging thier natural curiosity. How we incorperate this into our day is as follows: Nature exploration: Take them on walks, explore plants, animals and the environment. Weather and seasons: Use simple language to talk about sunny, rainy, windy etc. People and community: Introduce family and community members by name or role. Use books and playtime to teach them about different roles, jobs, people and their functions in the community. Cultural exploration: Share simple stories of traditions and cultures. Use music, food tasting, or arts and crafts to introduce diversity. Basic geography: Point out places in picture books or simple maps. Show them where they live and connect personal knowledge with world knowledge. Body awareness: Fostering personal curiosity and teaching them about body parts and the function of them. Helping them understand that their body is foundational to personal and social development. a Problem solving: Encourage curiosity by answering their “why?” Questions with simple honest answers. Provide opportunities to solve small problems during play, like fitting puzzle pieces.
Sparking creativity and envcouraging self-expression. The way in which we do this is through drawing and colouring, painting, music and dance, clay and modelling, role-play and dress ups, singing and rhyming, building and constructing, storytelling with puppets and nature art. These Activites not only entertain but also helps toddlers develop critical cognitive, emotional, and physical skills, By providing a suppportive and inspiring environment, thier budding creativity and confidence in expressing themselves is fostered.
Introducing science is all about nurturing thier natural curiosity and desire to expolore the world around them. The way we foster science is via the engagement in the following activities: Water Play, colour mixing, nature walks, magnet play, planting seeds, ice exploration, ballon fun, shadow play, sound exploration and observing weather.
Marie Curie was a Polish and naturalized-French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and remains the only person to win Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields (Physics and Chemistry). Her groundbreaking work in science and her role as a trailblazer for women in STEM make her name a symbol of scientific achievement and perseverance.
Naming our Toddler class after Marie Curie signifies our dedication to fostering curiosity, resilience, and a love for discovery in our young learners. The class embodies the spirit of exploration and the pursuit of knowledge, encouraging toddlers to experiment and learn through playful yet educational activities.
