About Aklum

The Aklum Grade 5 class introduces more advanced concepts in literacy, mathematics, and the sciences. Using Montessori and Cambridge methodologies, students are encouraged to engage in deep inquiry, independent research, and collaborative projects. This class prepares students for more rigorous academic challenges, while fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.

Named after Aklum, an advocate for education and equality, this class encourages a sense of social responsibility and empathy, preparing students to be thoughtful, informed citizens.

A day in the life at Aklum Class

08:30–09:00

Arrival

Students arrive, unpack, and prepare for the day. Many choose to read, review homework, or work quietly on morning tasks — building independence and focus.

09:00–09:30

Breakfast

Breakfast is a time to connect and refuel. Students serve themselves, practise responsibility, and enjoy a calm start to the day with classmates.

09:30-10:20

English

English stretches into more advanced skills. Students read longer texts, practise essay writing, and analyse characters, themes, and language. Lessons balance creativity with structure, preparing learners for secondary-level expectations.

10:20-10:30

Transition Time

A short pause to reset and prepare for maths.

10:30–11:20

Mathematics

Maths now covers fractions, decimals, percentages, and geometry. Students are encouraged to explain their reasoning, solve word problems, and apply maths to real-world contexts. Lessons combine fluency with logical thinking.

11:20-11:30

Transition Time

A chance to stretch and prepare for science.

11:30–12:20

Science

Science is inquiry-based and practical. Students design experiments, test hypotheses, and record findings. Topics include forces, ecosystems, and chemistry basics, giving them a solid foundation for secondary science.

12:20-13:05

Lunch

A balanced lunch of protein, vegetables, and grains fuels students for the afternoon. Mealtime is also a chance to practise independence and community.

13:05-13:55

Thai

Students build vocabulary, practise conversational Thai, and explore cultural traditions. Lessons are interactive and immersive, strengthening both language skills and cultural appreciation.

13:55-14:05

Transition Time

Time to reset before Social Studies.

14:05-14:55

Social Studies

Social Studies builds global awareness. Students explore history, geography, civics, and culture through projects and discussions. They are encouraged to think critically, ask big questions, and connect the past to the present.

14:55-15:05

Transition Time

A short pause before the final block.

Study Methods & Skills

Unique to the Aklum Class, this block teaches children how to learn. From note-taking and time management to research and presentation skills, students practise the habits they’ll need for secondary school. It’s about building resilience, organisation, and independence as lifelong learners.

15:55-16:00

Closing

The day ends with reflection, preparation, and calm. Students review their highlights, clarify homework, and leave organised for the next day.

Language Arts

In the Aklum class, language arts focus on refining reading, writing, and communication skills. Students engage in advanced literacy activities, including critical reading, analytical writing, vocabulary expansion, guided reading, creative writing, grammar exercises, and in-depth literature studies.

Mathematics

Mathematics education includes arithmetic, geometry, patterns, measurement, and problem-solving. Students engage in hands-on activities, use manipulatives, and participate in interactive lessons to solidify their understanding of mathematical concepts.

Science lessons involve experiments, exploration, and observation. Students learn about living organisms, ecosystems, weather, physical properties, and basic scientific principles through engaging activities and projects.

Social studies introduce students to their community, cultural diversity, history, and geography. Through stories, role-playing, and discussions, children learn about societal roles, empathy, historical events, and global awareness.

Physical education includes structured activities such as sports, dance, gymnastics, and outdoor play. These activities aim to improve physical health, motor skills, coordination, and teamwork.

Creative arts encompass drawing, painting, music, drama, and crafts. These activities provide students with opportunities to express their creativity and explore various artistic mediums.

Pricing Plans

Payment Terms & Conditions

At Tree Yard International, we offer flexible payment options to accommodate the diverse needs of families.

  • Annual Payment: Parents/guardians can pay the full annual fees in advance. A discount of unpo 30%  is offered for annual payments made by the specified deadline.
  • Term Payment: Fees can be paid in three instalments at the beginning of each term. Each instalment is due by the dates outlined in the plan description. 
  • Daily Rate Payment: A flexible daily payment plan is available. Payments must be made at least three days before the start of each payable calendar month to secure a child’s place.(20 consecutive days minimum)

 

All payment schedules, deadlines, and applicable discounts are outlined in the official payment plan document.

Parents must adhere to their chosen payment schedule to ensure continued access to services. We provide a secure online payment platform to facilitate easy and timely payments.

Registration Fees:

Non-refundable under any circumstances.

Regular Fees:

  • If a student withdraws before the start of the academic year 25th August 2025, 80% of the tuition fee will be refunded.
  • If a student withdraws within the first month of the school year, 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded based on the payment plan selected.
  • No refunds will be issued if a student withdraws after the first month of the school year.
  • No refunds for tuition payments will be provided for members joining during the academic year.

Sibling discounts are available for students on the Annual or term plans only. All siblings must be on these plans for the discounts to be available. Please note the discount will apply to the lowest priced plan.

  • A sibling discount of 5% is applied to the second child and any subsequent children from the same family,
  • A sibling discount of 10% is applied to the third child and any subsequent children from the same family.

In the event of a payment default, Tree Yard International reserves the right to take legal action to recover the outstanding amount.
The cost of recovery, including legal fees, will be added to the outstanding balance
A late fee of 2% of the outstanding amount will be charged for payments not received by the due date.
If the payment is not received within 30 days after the due date, the student may be temporarily suspended until the outstanding fees are paid.
